Rabbi Marder Celebrations
Honoring Rabbi Janet Marder
“To be a leader, you do not need a crown or robes of office. All you need to do is to write your chapter in the story, do deeds that heal some of the pain of this world, and act so that others become a little better for having known you. Live so that, through you, our ancient covenant with God is renewed in the only way that matters: in life.
― Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, Lessons in Leadership: A Weekly Reading of the Jewish Bible
Congregation Beth Am has been blessed to have Rabbi Marder as our senior rabbi for over 21 years. Please join us on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 at betham.org/streaming for a series of virtual events to honor Rabbi Marder’s legacy and thank her for all that she has done for the Beth Am community.
- THANK-YOU CONCERT — Saturday, June 13, 7:00 PM

Celebrate with the Beth Am community through a night of musical tributes, featuring performances from Beth Am member musicians. If you want to make the experience more interactive, we invite you to partake in some or all of the following to help send off Rabbi Marder in style:
- Enjoy Rabbi Marder’s favorite dessert: cheesecake! (Here is a suggested recipe.)
- Dress up for the occasion!
- Pour a glass of champagne or sparkling cider to toast Rabbi Marder.
- Send a photo of yourself with your beverage held up in toast position to photos@betham.org and you may get a special shout-out!
Thank you and we look forward to celebrating with you!
Please note that, while we are monitoring county guidelines for re-opening the campus, these events will be held virtually regardless.
Please consider making a gift in honor of Rabbi Marder to the Marder Endowment for Living Torah, using the form below. We will be sharing our fundraising results at Rabbi Marder's celebratory weekend on June 12-13; be sure to tell us your commitment by June 10 so that you can be included in the good news!
What’s on Rabbi Marder’s Bookshelf?
In case you haven’t heard, Rabbi Janet Marder loves books. All kinds of books. Fiction, literature, history, philosophy, theology, poetry, science fiction, memoirs, biography: the list goes on and on. The Beth Am Library Committee has for two decades counted her among our most vigorous supporters. She is also our most loyal patron (we have the library cards to prove it) and her love of learning and reading has lifted our community in countless ways. See what's on Rabbi Marder's bookshelf!
