More Social Justice Opportunities

Judaism commands us to give to those who are in need. At Congregation Beth Am, we strive to fulfill that mitzvah.

Tzedakah Box: Each month, Beth Am collects funds to go to a charitable cause that serves the needy. The cause rotates each month between a local organization and one in Israel, or occasionally to an organization that supports recovery from a natural or man-made disaster elsewhere in the world. If you’d like to propose an organization to receive funding through the Tzedakah Box Project, contact Rabbi Jonathan Prosnit. Please consider making a contribution to this month's Tzedakah Box project. Thank you!

Beth Am partner Jewish Coalition for Literacy (JCL) is dedicated to eliminating childhood illiteracy by mobilizing tutors, engaging parents and expanding home libraries to help underserved public school children throughout the Bay Area. To learn more about how you can get involved, please visit www.jclread.org.

MLK Mitzvah Day: Each January, Beth Am joins the local Jewish community as part of our annual, community-wide day of tikkun olam (repair of the world) as part of a National Day of Service to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In past years, these family-oriented projects have touched upon key issue areas, such as health, faith, education, the environment, honoring our veterans and military families, community resilience and economic development.
