Beth Am Women

Beth Am's group for women group works to build a warm, welcoming and inclusive community for women at Congregation Beth Am. Join today to build deep relationships, find meaning in Jewish traditions and have a positive impact on our congregation and our community.

As an affiliate of the Women of Reform Judaism, Beth Am Women helps to ensure the future of progressive Judaism around the world with initiatives that serve our community and the ideals of the Jewish people.

Our activities include programs that bring us together to learn about ourselves, each other and Torah; to practice our traditions and create new ones; to support congregational activities; and to initiate and support social action projects. We offer many regularly scheduled activities, including a book discussion group, cooking classes, monthly Rosh Chodesh celebrations, and much more.

And we’re always ready to try new activities. To share a suggestion, or to learn more about Beth Am Women, email bawinfo@betham.org.

Beth Am Women Groups:

Mah Jongg: Whether you’re feeling lucky or are a master with the tiles, join the fun as Beth Am Women play Mah Jongg on the last Wednesday evening of each month in the Beth Am Conference Room. New players are welcome, and we offer learning sessions. Contact: Carol

Beth Am Women Book Group: The group selects a book to read each month and meets in private homes, typically with both a 1:30 PM afternoon and 7:30 PM evening meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. RSVP is required at least two days before the events. Contact: Barbara

Knitzvah Circle: Join with other quilters, knitters, crochet mavens and crafters to make gifts of comfort and warmth for infirm congregants and new babies in the congregation. All levels of experience welcome. Participants can choose from our large selection of new yarn and fabric. We meet the 3rd Thursday of each month and alternate meeting at 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM. Contact: Leah

Rosh Chodesh: Participate in a fun, creative and dynamic Rosh Chodesh celebration just for women each month at the appearance of the new moon. The Jewish calendar provides a wonderful way to celebrate the cycles of time and change on Rosh Chodesh, the first (and sometimes second) day of each Hebrew month. Rosh Chodesh events at Beth Am are relevant to each month's Jewish themes, incorporate the arts in all forms, and encourage learning, discussion and personal stories in an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendship. Contact: Lisa

Beth Am Women Social Justice: Inspired by Jewish traditions and values, Beth Am Women takes pride in working to repair the world and pursue justice. Come work with us as we offer opportunities for direct service (such as collections and volunteering), advocacy and social action for women and families. We partner with NFTY, WRJ, the RAC, Beth Am social justice committees as well as groups from other faith communities.
